If you had to describe your summer break in one word, what would that word be? Exciting? Busy? Mediocre? Exceptional? Whatever the case, we hope you were able to spend time with family and friends, find time for rest and relaxation, and experience something new. Some of our students are in a season of...

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Once again, we had busy but exciting summer here in the city of Vancouver hosting many groups of students and teachers from Shanghai, Wenzhou and Jiaxing.

Our first group of students arrived from Shanghai and were quickly immersed into Canadian culture. They stayed with many wonderful Canadian homestay families, many of which were returning families from years past. The students engaged in English lessons delivered by excellent BC-certified teachers and visited various tourist attractions around the city including: the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, Gastown, Grouse Mountain and the world-renowned Stanley Park. CINEC also took them on fun excursions to Science World and George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

In addition to the first group, three more groups travelled to Vancouver, two from Wenzhou and one from Jiaxing. These Grade 10 students also attended English classes in a Canadian classroom with experienced teachers and visited similar locations around the city. In addition, they toured two well-known universities in Vancouver, SFU and UBC, and went on a 4-day 3 night tour to the Rocky Mountains, where they experienced beautiful sceneries and nature.

Every group also had the opportunity to visit Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city, and experience the beautiful Butchart Gardens and the historic Parliament buildings.

Our Grade 10 students from Jiaxing Senior High School BC Offshore Program went to SFU campus tour.

Finally, a small group of 7 students from our BC OSS programs in Shanghai spent two weeks in August touring across Canada to visit several top universities in Canada, including the University of Toronto, MacMaster University, the University of Waterloo, Queen’s University, McGill University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Alberta, the University of Victoria, SFU and UBC. The tour was long and involved many hours on the road and in the air, but the experience was rewarding. Our hope is that they now have a better idea of where they could potentially do their post-secondary studies.
